Sandro Bergamo

Having graduated in clarinet from the Conservatory of Udine and in singing from the Conservatory of Venice, Sandro Bergamo has from the beginning combined his work as an instrumentalist with that of choral conductor and, later, as a singer. He studied singing with various teachers, including Livio Picotti, Giampaolo Fagotto, Valentino Perera, Maria Grazia Biancolin, Maria Silvia Roveri and Lia Serafini, while he owes his training as a conductor to the advice and teachings of, among others, Piergiorgio Righele, Samuel Vidas and Fosco Corti. After graduating from high school, he studied cultural heritage conservation at the University of Udine, working as a librarian for 11 years before abandoning it to devote himself more to music. He is currently in charge of the Culture Office of the Municipality of Brugnera.
He has been the artistic director of the Altolivenzafestival and of the Associazione Culturale Altoliventina since its foundation. He has conducted numerous choral groups (Coro XX Secolo, Coro Campiello, Polifonica Friulana Jacopo Tomadini, Cantori di San Tommaso, vocal group Dumblis and Puemas di Udine). Since its foundation, he has directed the Cappella Altoliventina in Prata di Pordenone, with which he mainly performs Renaissance and Baroque repertoire. He has collaborated as a singer with various ensembles specialising in medieval and renaissance music (Cappella Ducale Venetia, Cappella Civica di Trieste, Lemam of Treviso, Nova Cantica of Belluno), Monteverdi Venice Academy. As a singer he has recorded with the Cappella Civica di Trieste, with the vocal group Nova Cantica di Belluno and with Oficina Musicum Venetiaee. As a conductor he has recorded three CDs, one with the Polifonica Tomadini, two with the Gruppo Dumblis and Puemas.
A publicist journalist, he was managing editor of the magazine Choralia from 1995 to 2017, and was editor of Choraliter, a four-monthly magazine of Feniarco, from 1999 to 2016. From 1994 to 1999 he was a member of the diocesan commission of sacred music and president of the provincial artistic commission of the USCI of Pordenone.
